Homestay in Kunming or Guiyang, China
You probably know the concept of being an au pair. Homestay China partly relies on this concept but also creates its own unique style. Whereas in the Western world many au pairs are being hired to clean the house, do the laundry, go shopping, cook food and take care of the children, Homestay China further developed it into a cultural and language exchange program – the Homestay student program. In this newly created program, most of the housework is done by the Chinese family's cleaning staff, kitchen staff or nanny. The main duty of Homestay students lies in playing with the children and in teaching English (or other languages) to them. Each potential Homestay China candidate should be respectful, outgoing, and culturally flexible. This way both the family and the participant gain the most out of the experience.
What is Homestay?
Homestay means that our students stay at home with a Chinese family. Participants of the program live with the host family, go travelling with them, and join in all kinds of daily life activities. Of course, Homestay students will have their own room, three meals per day and enough free time to enjoy and explore China on their own. If Homestay students face any problems or unexpected difficulties, Homestay China is always keen on solving problems and giving their support to Homestay students and host families.
Homestay China's families are chosen by a very intensive selection process. Most of the families are very wealthy and educated. They are open to Western culture and will do anything they can to make sure that our Homestay students' stay in China becomes an unique and wonderful memory.
A Gap Year
Why take a gap year? Free time is invaluable, and long breaks where you get away from the familiar and step into the world can be immensely rewarding. The life lessons you learn and friendships you make during a gap year are truly one-of-a-kind. Homestay China gives you the opportunity to explore China, Chinese culture and Chinese language.
