What do I have to pay?

The costs of your passport if you currently do not have one, 500 USD deposit (two payments of 250 USD before and upon your arrival), plane ticket to China and the costs of obtaining a visa.

How to pay the first deposit before my arrival in China?

Within 7 days after confirming your participation in our program you need to pay the first deposit payment of 250 USD. We process these payments via PayPal, a trustable and secure online payment portal (www.paypal.com). We will send an invoice from our PayPal account to your email address. Then you can easily pay the deposit online (all major credit cards accepted) using the link therein. Don't worry, you don't need an own PayPal account to make this online payment.

Can I get more pocket money?

Some people have asked us, if they can get more money. Come on guys, this program is free! Look at all your benefits. You get at least 750 RMB a month, free Chinese classes and full board and lodging. This program is for people who are interested in culture exchange in a special way and not for people who want to make money.

Can I get my pocket money for the whole term in advance?

All our participants get paid monthly.

How long do I have to spend with the family?

It depends on what the family's wants and needs are. All the details of your schedule will be discussed and sent to you before you sign a contract. You will have enough time for yourself. Check out what you get.

What kind of work do I have to do?

Each family has different wants and needs. Homestay China will match a homestay student with a host family that fits with their lifestyle. Your duties will include spending time with the family, teaching or tutoring the child in English (other required languages), and keeping your personal room clean and tidy.

Will I have my own room?

Yes. All families have to provide a room for their homestay students.

Can I stay less than 3 months?

No. Families are not willing to take Homestay students for less than 3 months.  3,6 and 12 months are our recommendations. Homestay China is willing to work out with you about how long you would like to stay.

What if I have problems with my family?

There will be a language barrier, and if problems arise, contact Homestay China and we will help you resolve the issue. If it seems that the you and the host family don't get along, we will find a new family for you.

How do I apply for a Visa?

How to apply. After you arrive we will change your tourist visa to a 3/6/12 month student visa depending on the length of your stay.

When should I book the flight?

You might want to make sure first, that you really receive your Visa before your book your flight.

Can you pay my flight in advance?

This company will help you with all formalities, but we cannot pay for your flight ticket in advance.

Shoud I book one way our round trip?

That's up to you once you have your Visa. A lot of Homestay students like it here and want to extend their stay in China.

Will someone pick me up at the airport?

Homestay China and your host family will be waiting for you when you arrive. Look out for a Homestay China sign with your name on it. Don't worry, if your plane is delayed, we'll keep waiting for you.
